Rio Grande City Receives Favorable ISO Rating

The Rio Grande City Planning Department is proud to announce that the city has attained an Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) rating of 5, signifying a significant achievement in the realm of public safety and emergency preparedness.

The ISO rating, which ranges from 1 to 10, with 1 being the highest, serves as a benchmark for evaluating a community's fire protection capabilities and overall readiness to respond to emergencies. Rio Grande City's attainment of a rating of 5 reflects the city's commitment to maintaining high standards in fire suppression services, water distribution systems, and emergency communications infrastructure.

“This is the lowest rating Rio Grande City has ever received thanks to the hard work of our code enforcement effectiveness and the implementation of the codes and the support of our City Commission,” declared RGC Planning and Zoning director Gilber Millan.

The ISO rating process involves a comprehensive evaluation of various factors, including fire department capabilities, water supply systems, and emergency communications networks. Achieving a favorable ISO rating of 5 not only demonstrates Rio Grande City's commitment to excellence in public safety but also has the potential to lead to lower insurance premiums for property owners within the community.

"The attainment of an ISO rating of 5 is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our firefighters, emergency responders, and city officials," remarked Rio Grande City Mayor Joel Villarreal. "It reflects our collective efforts to enhance the quality of life and security for all residents."

The Planning Department encourages residents and business owners to take pride in Rio Grande City's achievement and to remain vigilant in maintaining safety measures within their properties. The city remains committed to ongoing efforts to further improve its emergency response capabilities and infrastructure.
