The mission of the Public Library Department is to maintain and improve the quality of life for all citizens of our community by providing resources that enhance literacy, life-long learning and access to ideas. We especially recognize our responsibility to serve as a place for children to discover the joy of reading and the value of libraries.
Norma Gomez Fultz is Director for Rio Grande City Public Library. She graduated from Rio Grande City High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Howard Payne University. She completed the Small Library Management Program through the Texas State Library & Archives Commission.
Functions
Collection Development: Patrons will have access to Books, Books-on-CD, DVDs, Blu-Rays, downloadable eBooks, eAudio, and eMagazines.
Library Programs: The library offers a variety of programs and events for Children, Teens and Adults. Children’s programs include story time, arts and crafts and special events such as the Summer Reading Club and Storybook Christmas. Teen and Adult programs include book clubs, author visits, speaker presentations, and family feature films. Ongoing English as a Second Language (ESL) program and special events such as Spring Art Walks and “Dia del Niño event.
Computers: Public access computers with Internet, MS Office suite with word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint). Wi-Fi hot spot and Wireless printing are also available.
