Mission

The mission of Rio Grande Cable Network (RGCN-12) is to accurately inform the public on the latest activities of our City and community.

Functions

The RGCN 12's primary functions are:

1. News Gathering: Obtain information from individual municipal departments and other public entities in Starr County.

2. Program Promotions: Publicize RGCN-12 generally and specific television programs with our primary target audience in central Starr County and with other stakeholders as needed.

3. Television Program Production: Develop, produce, and edit on-location footage of community events, programs, and people for cable broadcasting and other digital media as needed for community viewing. Also ensures its compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations and guidelines. Oversee and broadcast live City Council meetings which includes prepping and testing the equipment, operating cameras, lights, audio, graphics and titles; produce, create and provide production related tasks including pre-production, production and postproduction phases for projects that are produced by RGCN-12;

Responsibilities

Design and Develop: Create electronically generated graphics to be used in conjunction with program production and City events. Maintain and modify the video department’s tape library, equipment, and administrative databases;

Equipment Inventory: Manage routine operation of placing orders for equipment, services, and supplies. Schedule and operate audio/video services such as equipment reservation, delivery and pick-up, and duplicating.
