Mission:
The Boys and Girls Youth Club of Rio Grande City is a social, educational and recreational facility where students can participate in Power Hour, where they receive assistance with their homework, do arts and crafts and participate in service learning projects in conjunction with the city. During the Summer Program there are also various classes including sports, for recreation, science experiments, and recycling and community projects. This summer we will debut presentations and hands-on activities provided by Gladys Porter Zoo and certified neutralists to spark the students’ interest in wild life and the valley’s ecosystem. The club is a safe haven where kids can go to develop by engaging in activities provided by our trainedand caring staff. They also help promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging, influence and purpose. The Club’s mission is “to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.” This is accomplished by providing a safe environment to learn and grow, developing relationships with caring adult professionals that will provide life-enhancing programs and character developing experiences, as well as providing hope and opportunities for the future of Rio Grande Youth. With so much to do, every child is sure to have a great time!
